The CN Images of Canada Gallery is an online exhibition produced by the Canada Science and Technology Museum. The display is divided into ten sections: agriculture ; aviation ; railways ; marine services ; natural resources ; people ; communication and computers ; road transport ; structures ; and scenic views. Each section is divided into many sub-sections which feature collections of historical photographs with everything from aquaculture, to the history of the Canadian National (CN) Railway (the corporation which compiled this collection), to World Wars I and II, to Grey Owl, and much besides. Each individual photograph has a brief description next to it, with all relevant archival source information. Based on a general collection of some 750,000 photographs, the display will be of great service to researchers, teachers and students of Canadian History, as well as members of the public. Unfortunately, there is no historical narrative to accompany the exhibition -- but there is a good online essay entitled Railways in Canada: A Brief History. The site has its own search tool and instructions for ordering photographs.
