http://manilio.f2g.net/
This site is devoted to the study of the first century AD Latin poet Marcus Manilius, whose best known work is the Astronomica, a 4500 line hexametric poem which combines astrology with Stoic philosophy. The site offers online editions of the text (Loeb and Intratext) as well as commentaries, articles, secondary literature and reviews. A useful bibliography of works on Manilius also provides a list of publications on ancient astrology and the zodiac. Much of the secondary material referenced in the bibliography is in English. There is an excellent range of links including ones on the wider history of astrology. While there is no general introduction to the poet or to his life and times, Mary Prendergradt's article 'Manilius. Poetry and science after Vergil' provides an excellent source for students and researchers alike. The site has a multilingual introduction to its contents and, while the menu options are in Spanish, non-Spanish speakers should not be deterred from using the site as it is easily navigable. There is also a discussion group to which readers can subscribe. This resource will benefit undergraduate students as well as more experience researchers in classics and related subjects, including the history of science and religion.
