a public indicator that takes data from the Internet about the current degree of pollution & prognosis for the next two days. the data is supplied by The National department of Environmental Investigation & is updated 4 times a day. a computer grabs the data from a web page, & send it to a microprocessor which controls a series of LED lights. several other interesting prototype ideas have been proposed to visualize this relevant data in a public, urban setting. for instance, a similar system could control a window opener, that closes & opens a window on the city hall depending on the current pollution level, so that the public can read the indicator from the street (e.g. closed window=warning, window all open=below average).
