The goals of the Virtual Labs Project are to change basic life sciences undergraduate education by developing innovative web-based learning tutorials in the sciences and by training faculty how to integrate these tools into their curriculum. Our learning content modules are rich with media, technology, and pedagogy. There are over 500 pages of multimedia in biology with realistic and diagrammatic graphics, animations, interactive simulations, quizzes, virtual experiments/patients, and games. The following modules have been developed in physiology: cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, gastrointestinal, vision, the cranial nerves, and other topics. Students who have used VL content find the presentation of the material engaging and feel VL helps them understand the difficult concepts in physiology.
